This cushion we called Ancestors’ Blues 2 and its message are an homage to all ancestors down the line that resulted in us, today. No matter who they were or what they did or didn’t, they are the reason of our present existence. They had thrown a pebble in the pond of universe, and the circles are still widening as us. So, let’s carry on with greater hope.
The linen napkin with the dark blue flower embroidery was done by the late mother of a close friend; and she knew that we would turn it into something that carries the love and care of her maternal lineage.
And it was almost a blank slate so we wanted to memorize Toni Morrison, author of The Beloved and many more novels.
And we backed it with a piece from the denim curtain we sewn for the nursery room of the first baby girl of the younger sista.
Kudos to all maternal lineage of ours!
